Our partner, Soirbheas, undertook a transport feasbility study and the outcomes are listed below. Loch Ness Hub will act as a community transpsort hub for the area.
The key challenges identified were:
- Taking children to school within Drumnadrochit without a fossil fuelled car
- Taking children to school in Drumnadrochit from outside the village without a fossil fuelled car
- Commuting to Inverness without a fossil fuelled car
- Leisure travel to Inverness and around Glen Urquhart and Strathglass without a fossil fuelled car
- Travel between Cannich and Beauly without a fossil fuelled car
- Funding transport for school trips
- Attending community groups without a fossil fuelled car
The proposed solutions include:
- A Walking Bus within Drumnadrochit to encourage active travel for the primary school
- Developing safer paths in Drumnadrochit and Balnain to allow for active travel and safer routes to school
- Expansion of the EV charging network in Glen Urquhart and Strathglass

- Car share scheme
- Improving the Public transport information availability
- Introducing e-bike hire to Glen Urquhart and Strathglass
- Introduce a Community Transport Scheme
- Establishing a Transport Hub
